Speakerbus Enables Mobile Assets in its Netted Voice Solution

16th September 2009

Speakerbus launches its Mobile i series Module (iM101) at DSEi 09.

London, UK - A netted voice solution is fundamental in delivering over-the-horizon communications both at a strategic and operational level. The solution could include a Command Centre, Ground Station, Radio Users and a Field HQ. However a key consideration of any over-the-horizon communications system is the capability to support mobile assets. The Mobile i series Module (iM101) can be installed in vehicles or ships with access to an IP data network connection, usually supplied via Satellite terminal.

Supporting wide-area voice channels with persistent connection is a key attribute of the Speakerbus Netted Voice solution. If an IP network connection is lost, the iM101 will automatically re-establish the connection when the IP service returns. These units are easy and rapid to deploy with auto configuration and channel modifications made from a central location via Speakerbus’ web based management software (i cms). Compatible with Mobile Satellite Services (MSS) iM101 enables remote users to access the voice net from anywhere on the globe. Users can be assigned to and moved between communications channels and talk back to the channel, if they have the correct credentials.

The iM101 uses a shielded low impedance, handheld PTT microphone to provide clear and natural voice responses. The units housing and microphone resists mechanical shocks and vibration, and is resistant to oil, fumes, salt spray, ultraviolet radiation, and corrosion. The iM101 housing has been designed to meet IP54 classification.

Paul Kitchener, Marketing Communications Manager at Speakerbus Ltd, added; ‘The Netted Voice Solution is critical in delivering over-the-horizon communications for our Armed Forces both at the strategic and operational level. The iM101 module ensures that mobile assets at the operational level, which need to be both ruggedized and vehicle mountable, can plug into this crucial system.’
